My Journey
From the first day I set foot in a
classroom, I felt I was in the right place for me. Those early days of teaching were not easy but I knew I belonged. Overall, I have loved my time as a teacher and it has helped me grow as a human being. As a consequence, I am choosing to be guide to people experiencing performance issues. I choose this role because that is what I have been doing pretty much all of my life as teacher, mentor, husband, coach and father. This also helps me put to use my degrees of performance psychology and consciousness psychology, not to mention some teaching methods I have developed over the years.
Building a name
Why 2 AM Epiphany?
I came up with this name because, in my life, this where my greatest epiphanies in my life occurred. In my youth, 2 AM was the end of night of drinking and carousing. When I lay in my bed on those nights, I had the wildest ideas about my life. For many years, I discounted this by telling myself, "It's just whiskey talk." However, when I considered this venture, I would wake up at 2 AM with a great vision about this idea. I began to wonder why this was. I then thought about the ideas of Ayurvedic Medicine, which is an ancient healing method from India. In this system, it is believed that from 10PM to 2 AM is a time of rest and 2 AM to 6 AM is a second wave of creativity.
- I lean towards the advice of William Burroughs, "Build good name. Keep your name clean. Don't make compromises. Don't worry about making a bunch of money or being successful. Be concerned with doing good work...and if you can build a good name, eventually that name will be it's own currency."
- One of my goals is to achieve an opportunity to write books to change public education and how they relate to personal growth and performance. Some of my mentors believe that public education is beyond repair. I wonder, "Why is private education the only place effective education is practiced?" That is not fair to a vast majority of potentially great minds.
